Police in Prince George are asking for the public’s help in identifying a car-jacking suspect from an incident that occurred just after 11pm on Christmas Day.
The incident occurred when the passenger in a taxi brandished a knife at the driver and demanded to be driven out of province.
“The taxi driver stopped in front of the airport and got out of the vehicle. The suspect then got into the driver’s seat and drove away from the airport in the taxi. Thankfully, the driver of the taxi was unharmed in the incident, stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.
The taxi was located crashed into the ditch a short time later, however, the suspect had already fled the scene.
Investigators are looking to speak with any witnesses to the incident or to anyone that may have dash camera footage of the orange taxi arriving or leaving the airport.
