People in BC could be eligible for support in housing costs, whether renting or owning.
Beginning this year, income thresholds are increasing for the renter’s tax credit, and can claim up to $400 if their adjusted income is $63,000 or lower, or a partial credit for an adjusted income as much as $83,000.
The Province said in a news release, a grant is available for homeowners to reduce the property tax needed to be paid, with an adjusted property value threshold to continue covering 92 per cent of homeowners.
Those with properties assessed at a value as much as $2,175,000 can get $570 off their property tax bill in certain regional districts, or $770 for the rest of the province.
They added veterans, seniors, and people with a disability could be eligible for an additional grant of $1,045.
Homeowners over 55, those with disabilities, and families with dependent children are also able to apply to defer their property tax for the year.
More information about the support can be found on the Province’s website here.
