Downtown Prince George heading into the new year with 10-year mandate

Downtown Prince George is wrapping up its 25 year celebration before the new year.

That’s how long the organization has been supporting businesses with various events, with plans to continue that for years to come.

Executive Director, Colleen Van Mook says 2024 saw their events pick up the pace.

“We hosted Downtown Winterfest, Downtown Summerfest, Downtown Fallfest, and it’s nice to see people coming downtown, really taking part and participating in our events, and also taking the opportunity to eat, shop, explore, and thrive.”

Van Mook says they’ve been happy with the tail end of 2024 with the Festival of Trees, Santa Parade, and United Way’s Tree of Lights.

Heading into next year, Downtown PG will have a new 10 year mandate begin, helping make sure the organization is funded through the property owners.

Van Mook says they want kick off the next ten years with more engagement with businesses, and more positive conversations about making downtown better.
