The Prince George Spruce Kings started the second half of their season with a heartbreaking 6-5 overtime loss to the Nanaimo Clippers.
The Spruce Kings held a 5-4 lead heading into the final minute of the third, before Luke Lavery tied it for the Clippers with just 55 seconds left in regulation.
Cole Lonsdale sent the 1,136 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena home stunned by scoring his third goal of the game in overtime to give the Clippers the win.
Carter Hesselgrave scored twice for the Spruce Kings in the loss, while Brock Cummings, Evan Bellamy and Mason Loewen each found the back of the net once.
Ryder Green got the start between the pipes for Prince George, making 23 saves.
The Spruce Kings outshot the Clippers 46-29.
