Hockey Canada is hopefully taking notes after the Prince George Cougars picked up a 2-1 shootout win over the Victoria Royals.
Koehn Ziemmer sent the 3,323 fans at Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena home with a bitter taste by scoring the lone goal in the shootout to give the Cats the win.

Josh Ravensbergen slammed the door on the Royals, making 28 saves and stopping all three shots he faced in the shootout.

Ravensbergen was named the first star of the game.
The Cougars outshot the Royals 35-29.
Riley Heidt scored the lone Cougars goal in regulation taking a whiffed pass and putting the puck between the legs of Victoria netminder Jayden Kraus.

Seth Fryer scored the Royals’ only goal.
It was a mild affair, with both teams racking up just four PIMs a piece, and each team only going to the powerplay once.
