Just when it looked like the crease was settled for the Prince George Spruce Kings, another twist of fate threw a curveball their way.
Today (Friday), the BCHL club signed 19-year-old goaltender Dylan Johnson for the remainder of the as Colin Reay requires season ending surgery.
“Colin had an MRI over the break on an existing groin/hip injury,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes, “a tear was discovered that requires immediate season ending surgery. Colin has been a great addition to our program, and we look forward to him rejoining us for the 2025-2026 season.”
Johnson is 6’1, 202 pounds from Dallas, Texas and has played six games in the USHL this season between Dubuque and Green Bay, putting up a 3-2 record with a 3.73 Goals Against Average and .853 save percentage.
Prior to this, Johnson spent two seasons in the NAHL, winning the Robertson Cup with the Oklahoma Warriors in 2023. In 34 games, he put up a 14-15-1-2 record with a 2.81 GAA and .914 Save %.
“We are extremely fortunate that Dylan was available and was very interested in joining our team,” said Hawes, “He’s a veteran goaltender who will come in and work with Ryder Green as we look to have a great second half of the season.”
Johnson is in Prince George and will be in the lineup when the Spruce Kings host the Nanaimo Clippers at 6pm tomorrow (Saturday) from the Kopar Memorial Arena.
