Registration is now open for one of Prince George’s toughest sporting events of the year.
The 38th annual Prince George Iceman takes place on February 9th.
The event kicks off at the Otway Nordic Centre with an eight kilometre ski, before a ten kilometre run brings the competitors to the Prince George Ice Oval.
Participants will then complete a five kilometre skate at the Oval before heading out on another five kilometre run.
They’ll cap off the competition with an 800 metre swim in the Aquatic Centre.
In last year’s Iceman, Alex Nemethy of Smithers was the first solo racer out of the pool with a time of 1:49:03.6.
It was the second year in a row that Nemethy was the fastest solo racer.
The fastest solo female was Lindsay Van der Meer with a time of 2:09:40.7.
The fastest adult relay team was “Freeze My Body into the Ice Oval”, consisting of Cam McNamara and Elizabeth Hirsch with a time of 1:41:16.5.
Registration for the 2025 Iceman closes at the end of the day on February 4th.
