It was a busy weekend for Prince George Fire Rescue as they responded to two separate house fires.
The first one occurred early Saturday morning at 1:30 a.m. where crews from three firehalls attended a residential blaze in the 3500 block of 5th Avenue.
Crews found a fire in the basement kitchen and was in the early stages of development. The quick efforts confined the fire to one room of the residence.
Fire and smoke damage is estimated at $100,000.
The building was occupied at the time of the fire, fortunately everyone inside including several pets were able to exit safely, due in part to properly functioning smoke detectors.
No injuries were sustained.
Temporary lodgings were provided for the displaced residents through the city’s Emergency Social Services.
The second fire took place at 10:30 p.m. yesterday (Sunday) where crews from three halls responded to a structure fire in the 4100 block of Davis Road.
First arriving crews found a single-story home, fully involved in fire. Firefighters utilized a defensive attack to contain the fire to the property of origin.
There were no injuries to the occupants or fire fighters.
Damage loss is estimated at $300,000. The cause is currently under investigation.
