The streak stops here.
The Prince George Cougars picked up a 3-1 in over the Spokane Chiefs, to snap the Chiefs’ win streak at ten.
“I loved our start, and for most of the game there, it’s a pretty good full 60,” said Cougars Assistant Carter Rigby on the Post-game show on 94.3 the Goat.
“Nice to get a win on the road here on the road, especially for Coop, too bad with 30 some odd seconds left to give one up, you really want that for him but at the end of the day, you’re looking for the two points and we got that.”
Michaluk, playing against his former team, made 33 saves in the win to send the 6,769 fans at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena home stunned.
“I think everybody coming into this game knew that Coop needed this one, and we wanted to battle for him,” Rigby said.
“But I thought all night he was calm, putting rebounds in corners, being talkative with the D partners, rimming pucks when he had to and making a few big saves when he had to, and making a few big saves when he had to. He helped his own cause there, but I really liked the effort in front of him for him to get that, especially being in Spokane.”
Riley Heidt got the party started 8:38 into the opening frame, with a quick deke past the Spokane defender and sliding a backhander past Dawson Cowan.
