WHL: 

Corbin Vaughan will make his debut on the Prince George Cougars blueline Wednesday night on the road against the (18-6-2) Tri-City Americans.

The Cougars acquired the 18-year-old hard-nosed defenseman from the Regina Pats in exchange for 19-year-old defenseman Ephram McNutt and a second-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

In 98 games with the Pats, Vaughan has 14 points (4-10) and a whopping 165 penalty minutes.

The (15-8-3-2) Cougars are tied with the (15-10-3-2) Victoria Royals for first in the B.C. Division but the Cats have two games in hand.

The P.G. Cougars will not have their captain to start their road trip as Riley Heidt is one of 32 players (including 12 from the WHL) at Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp this week in Ottawa.

The four goaltenders, 10 defensemen, and 18 forwards will vie for a spot on Canada’s National Junior Team, which will compete at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, from December 26 through January 5 in Ottawa.

BCHL: 

The Prince George Spruce Kings have hired Taylor Harnett as as Associate Coach.

He will work under Brad Tesink who is the team’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Harnett spent seven seasons as the Head Coach and General Manager in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

The (8-14-2-1) Spruce Kings host the (12-10-4-1) Langley Rivermen Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00 in their final two games before Christmas.

Saturday is Drop the Gloves and Sock it to ‘Em game.

The Spruce Kings are 2-2 since Tesnik replacing the fired Alex Evin.

The (14-8-4) Vancouver Canucks continue a 6-game homestand tonight at 7:00 against the (13-13-2) St. Louis Blues.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The (13-3-1-1) Under-18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (11-7-0-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon at 4:00 and Sunday afternoon at 12:15 in Chilliwack.

The U-18 Cougars are in second place in the 8-team BC Elite Hockey league, just a point
behind the (14-4-0-1) Valley West Giants.
