WHL: 

The Prince George Cougars on Sunday acquired 18-year-old hard-nosed defenseman Corbin Vaughan from the Regina Pats in exchange for 19-year-old defenseman Ephram McNutt and a second-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

In 98 games with the Pats, Vaughan has 14 points (4-10) and a whopping 165 penalty minutes.

Carson Carels scored the Teddy Bear goal at 15:28 of the first period before a sold out hometown crowd of 6,016.

Hunter Laing tallied twice, including the game-winner 2:00 into the 3rd, and added an assist.

Koehn Ziemmer notched his Cougars team-high 20th goal of the season and added a pair of assists.

Josh Ravensbergen made 32 saves and Borya Valis scored twice and added an assist before 3.840 fans at CN Centre.

The (15-8-3-2) Cougars play four more games before their Christmas break with all of them on the road starting Wednesday against the (18-6-2) Tri-City Americans.

Prince George is tied with the (15-10-3-2) Victoria Royals for first in the B.C. Division but the Cats have two games in hand.

Victoria lost at home 4-1 against Kelowna on Sunday afternoon.
