A record breaking $70,000 was raised during Community Christmas

It’s officially a wrap for this years Community Christmas at My Prince George Now, 94.3 the Goat, and Country 97fm.

Just over $70,000 in goods, cash, and toys were donated during the two days, setting a new record raised for the event.

44-year volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Bernie Gould says it’s been an incredible rebound since Covid.

“We’re up almost $20,000 over last year, and that is incredible. The generosity, the toys are beautiful, well thought out toys, and it’s really really heartwarming.”

Gould adds they got an incredible increase in food donations compared to last year.

During the final day, personal stories were shared by those who donated, one being 20 years ago where somebody did something nice for them when they were going through struggles.

She says an act of kindness can change a life forever.

Kids also made donations, guided by their parents, which she says the planting of that seed is very near and dear to her heart.

Gould notes her biggest takeaway this year was the generosity and kindness of people, and the enthusiasm of the staff at the radio station.

All donations brought to the radio station over the two days will be benefitting the St. Vincent de Paul Society here in Prince George.
