City adding new grader to fleet

The City of Prince George will be adding a motor grader to its fleet.

City Council approved the purchase at last night’s (Monday) meeting.

“This would convert currently a rented grader to a city-owned unit, and permanently add it to our fleet of six existing graders,” said Manager of Transportation and Technical Services Dave Bradshaw.

The City started renting the unit in 2021, with the understanding the rental agreement would come to an end in October 2024.

The City has spent $242,753 renting the grader, and has the option to purchase the vehicle by extending the payments for another 24 months.

This will cost the City $227,500 over the next 24 months, and would have an estimated disposal value of $100,000 at the end of the unit’s life.

City administration estimates the unit could potentially run for another ten years.
