Update: 37-year-old man dies following fatal accident south of PG

Update at 10 AM Monday:

The Quesnel RCMP are investigating a motor vehicle collision that claimed one life.

Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 97, south of Cinema (20 kilometres north of Quesnel) late Friday afternoon.

Upon attending police found a semi-truck and trailer had collided with a pickup truck.

Sadly, the driver, and only occupant, a 37-year-old man from Quesnel succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.

The highway was closed for several hours while police conducted their initial investigation at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation.

An accident between a pickup truck and a transport truck caused a man’s death Friday at 4:24 PM.

Quesnel RCMP said they were called out to the accident, 20 kilometers north of Quesnel.

“The investigation revealed the southbound transport truck collided with a northbound pickup,” said Sergeant Richard Weseen of Quesnel RCMP. “The lone occupant of the pickup died at the scene. The driver of the transport truck was left uninjured.”

Weseen added the roads were covered with ice and snow, and visibility was barely visible.

He also stated the investigation is still ongoing.

Police report that two more incidents involving transport trucks and poor driving conditions occurred Saturday morning.

Investigations into those incidents are on going as well.

RCMP urge motorists to take extra precautions when driving.
