End is in sight for snowfall warning in the Prince George area

The snowfall warning in place for the Prince George area is forecast to end by tonight (Saturday).

In the last 24 hours, around 8 centimetres of snow fell, with today having a potential of 5-10 centimetres.

While the snowfall warning is expected to end, Meteorologist Louis Kohanyi says the snow is likely to continue.

“It’s still going to be unsettled in the wake of this frontal system so, we’re still looking at some periods of snow tonight with about 2 to 5 centimetres of snow expected to accumulate.”

“Sunday we’re also looking at periods of snow, looking at about 2 to 5 centimetres of snow.”

Kohanyi says warming temperatures will roll in Sunday night, but will usher in a chance of flurries and a risk of freezing rain, which could create slippery conditions.

Temperatures up to 5 degrees could be had to start the work week, with the average at minus 2.
