Tourism Industry Night talks regenerative tourism in Prince George

Tourism Prince George and the College of New Caledonia held their annual Tourism Industry Night yesterday (Thursday).

The event had students, industry leaders, and stakeholders connect and discuss how regenerative tourism practices could be implemented.

Tourism Prince George CEO, Colin Carson explains the topic.

“It’s a concept of giving back more to these communities when you’re visiting them. I think inherently, tourism is an industry taking something away or impacting the environment negatively.’

“So, regenerative tourism is really about how can we make that impact better, and how can we give back to communities while we are travelling.”

Carson adds the event had panels talk about how individuals and businesses can become more sustainable and take steps to improve the environment with a tourism lens.

He notes it was also an opportunity for the tourism industry and students in the same room to talk to potential employers, and highlight strengths of the program.
