Those already looking for a break from snow may have to wait another few days before that happens.
A low-pressure weather system will be making its way through Prince George starting tomorrow (Wednesay), bringing in more snow.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist, Lisa Erven says the snow is likely to continue through Thursday.
“When I first look at the weather model guidance, I think a pretty good estimate at this point for storm totals through that 48-hour period is anywhere from about 10 to 20 centimetres.”
Erven says wind isn’t expected to be a factor with this snowfall, with a potential exception for Thursday night where winds could reach 40 kilometres an hour, creating a visibility hazard on the roads.
By the weekend, temperatures will shift to seasonal at around minus 2 degrees and bring an active pattern, making temperatures rise again due to a mild air mass.
She adds in that temperature transition, precipitation will also change to rain, and potentially even freezing rain.
That along with rain possibly freezing overnight, makes treacherous conditions for drivers and pedestrians, which Erven says it’s good to keep an eye on the forecast.
