Caps bottle up Spruce Kings

Despite one of their best efforts of the season the Prince George Spruce Kings were unable to beat Storm Phaneuf and the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The Caps defeated the Spruce Kings in BCHL action 5-2 tonight (Fri).

Prince George would score first in the opening frame courtesy of Rider Stoglin to put the home side up one after 20 minutes.

After failed attempts to expand their lead on the power play, the Caps would score two in the second from Jared Domin and Ben Varrell to take a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Cowichan Valley would expand it’s lead to 3-1 after a Luke Santerno tucked one in between the legs of Spruce Kings goalie Sam Tanguay.

Prince George would score shortly after on the man advantage when Bryan Basilico ripped one past Storm Phaneuf to make it 3-2.

The Caps would get a pair of goals from Ryan Burton to ice the game for the visitors.

The Spruce Kings are back in action tomorrow night at 7pm from the Coliseum against the Penticton Vees.
