BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have sacked head coach Alex Evin and replaced him on an interim basis with Associate Coach Brad Tesink.

Evin had been the team’s head coach since the 2019-20 season.

The (6-12-2-1) Spruce Kings are 9th out of 10 teams in the BCHL Coastal Conference.

They play their next four games on the road starting Friday in Coquitlam against the
(12-7-2-1) Express and continuing Saturday in Langley vs. the (10-8-4-1) Rivermen.

WHL:

Prince George Cougars goalie Josh Ravensbergen and Vancouver Giants sniper Cameron Schmidt, who is from PG, are among 10 WHL players that will compete this week in the CHL USA Prospects Challenge.

The first game will be played tonight (4:00 Tuesday) in London, Ontario, with the second game Wednesday in Oshawa.

The (13-6-3-2) Prince George Cougars visit the (10-10-1-2) Red Deer Rebels Friday (6 PM PT) and the (11-10-1-1) Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday (6 PM) before returning home to face Regina on December 6th and Kamloops (Teddy Bear Toss Game) on December 7th.

The Cougars have completed 24 of their 68 games which is just slightly more than 1/3 of their regular season schedule.

They lead the B.C. Division by three points over the (12-8-3-1) Victoria Royals.

The (10-6-3) Vancouver Canucks continue a 6-game road trip tonight (4:00) against the (10-9-3) Bruins in Boston.

It is one of just two Tuesday games in the NHL; with Utah at Montreal the other one.

BC Elite Hockey League: 

The (11-3-1-1) Under-18 Cariboo Cougars host the (7-5-2-2) Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday night at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 10:30 at Kin 1.

Cariboo is in first place in the 8-team Division by a point over the (11-3-0-1) Valley West Giants.

Canada West Basketball: (at UNBC)

The UNBC Timberwolves have reached their mid-season break in Canada West basketball.

The UNBC women are 3-5 while the UNBC men sit 1-7.

The Timberwolves next league games will be played January 10th at Fraser Valley.

Provincial High School Football:

The College Heights Cougars had their season come to an end following a 36-14 Saturday loss to the top-ranked Vernon Panthers in the AA varsity semifinals at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
