The (8-9-3) Boston Bruins have fired head coach Jim Montgomery and replaced him on an interim basis with associate coach Joe Sacco.

The 55-year-old Montgomery had a 120-41-23 record (.715 points percentage) in three seasons with the Bruins, winning the Jack Adams Trophy as NHL coach of the year in 2022-23.

The (12-5-3-2) Prince George Cougars host the (11-10-1) Kamloops Blazers Friday night at 7:00 to conclude a 6-game homestand.

The Cougars are first in the 5-team B.C. Division by two points over the (12-6-2-1) Victoria Royals.

The Blazers are third, six points back of PG.

(0-12) Thompson Blazers on Sunday.

Cariboo is in first place in the 8-team Under-18 Division by a point over (9-3-0-1) Valley West and (9-3-0-1) Fraser Valley.

High School Football:

The College Heights Cougars play Vernon Saturday morning at 11:00 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver in the Provincial High School Football AA varsity semifinals.

College Heights advanced following a 22-15 victory over Holy Cross in the quarterfinals.

The UNBC Timberwolves host the UBC-Okanagan Heat Friday night at 6:00 (women) and 8:00 (men) and Saturday night at 5:00 and 7:00 in the Timberwolves final league games until January 10th.

UBCO is 3-3 (women) and 2-4 (men).
