The City of Prince George has filed a claim in BC Supreme Court seeking compensation for what the City says are deficiencies in the design of the Canfor Leisure Pool.
In its Notice of Civil Claim, the City asserts the design of the pool was deficient, amounting to a breach of contract with the designer.
The City claims compensation for losses suffered due to the deficient design, including costs of investigating the cause, and costs of remedying the deficiencies.
Prince George City Manager, Walter Babicz said in a news release “The City is taking legal action to ensure we, and the taxpayers of Prince George, are not on the hook for the costs associated with repairs resulting from a faulty design.”
He added the full extent of repairs is unknown, and there’s no timeline when it will take place, but the pool is safe and will stay open.
No further details have been provided as the case is before the courts.
