Winner of D.A.R.T’s Bob Scott Award announced last night

The 3rd Annual Bob Scott Award – Making a Difference was awarded last night.

During yesterday’s dinner presentation at the Coast Prince George Hotel, hosted by the Drug Awareness Recovery Team (D.A.R.T), former Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond was announced as the award’s recipient.

“Bob Scott was a person who understood the need to give people a second and third chance to provide support, inclusion, and connection.” says Bond.

“To win an award that is based on the legacy that he left is very humbling.”

Two of Bob Scott’s kids, Sara Lindsay and Joel Scott, along with last year’s winner Dr. Theresa Healy presented the award.

Bond says the principles that Scott used were not only apparent at the Mental Health and Addictions Symposium in Prince George, but continue to be talked about by experts today.

She added that he’s an example of how anyone can grapple with the struggle of addictions, work hard, and be successful, but it takes a community and support.

The Bob Scott Award – Making a Difference is awarded to individuals, businesses, organizations or agencies that exemplify integrity, leadership and inspiration in contributing to the community.
