BC’s Winter tire rules now in effect

With winter quickly approaching, Prince George drivers will need to start changing their tires.

BC’s winter tire rules take effect starting today.

PG Motors Parts-man, Brad Carmichael says winter tires have more features designed for the conditions that an all-season tire does not.

“The design allows them to form suction and self-clean through the ice, there’s a lot of good qualities that an all-season does not have.”

Carmichael adds a few other things need to be in top shape before the snow flies.

“You are going to want to check your coolant, oil levels, and all of your service and maintenance including your block heater.”

Drivers are also reminded to check the air pressure on their tires during the winter months.

Commercial vehicles that are 27 thousand kilograms in gross volume weight are required to carry chains on designated routes.
