How do you thank frontline workers? If you’re the Prince George Cougars, you do it with pizza.
The Prince George Cougars scored early and often as they thumped the Vancouver Giants 7-1 in the first game of Community Heroes Weekend.
“Really nice to get that win, especially against a division rival, it was a huge game for us,” said Cougars Head Coach and GM Mark Lamb on the post-game show on 94.3 The Goat.
Koehn Ziemmer led the way with a natural hat trick, including the Cougars’ fifth goal to send the 6,038 fans at the CN Centre home with a free small pizza from Dominos.

“Things are clicking right now, obviously feeling good, but a lot of credit to do with our team I think,” Ziemmer said on the post game show.
“When they can set up like that, it’s hard to miss some of them.”
Ziemmer has eight goals in his last three games.
The Cougars got off to an excellent start, scoring four in the first period, with Borya Valis opening the scoring just 14 seconds into the game.
The Giants held the momentum in the middle frame, but were unable to crack Josh Ravenbergen, even with four breakaway attempts.
“I liked a lot about the game, except the second period,” Lamb said.
“There was a lot of good things, but we don’t win that game without Ravensbergen in the second.”
Ravensbergen made 29 saves on 30 Vancouver shots.
Prince George product Cameron Schmidt was the lone Giant to beat Ravensbergen, finishing off a nifty passing play.
