PG’s jobless mark in October increased a little bit according to Stats Canada.
In its October Labour Force Survey, the unemployment rate jumped to 5.8% – this after it was 5.5 in September.
Analyst, Vince Ferrao told Vista Radio we saw a slight decline in the amount of people holding down a job.
“There were 55,600 people employed. Last month, it was slightly more at 56,400 people working in September.”
He added with the unemployment rate bouncing to 5.8% after it was 5.5 – this led to a mixed bag of results for several industries.
“What we are seeing is a bit of a decline in the natural resources, there were fewer people working in construction as well – however, there were increases where we see more people in health care and social assistance.”
BC’s unemployment rate also came in at 5.8%, down slightly from September (6.0%) and, is the second-lowest among the provinces, trailing only Quebec (5.7%).
Nationally, the jobless rate was 6.5% last month – the same as in September.
