Stage is set for Prince George Miracle Theatre’s next community fundraiser

Miracle Theatre will be holding performances to help seniors in the community.

Coming off their previous production of ‘A Comedy of Tenors’ which raised over $180,000, Director Ted Price says they’re working on two comedy productions.

‘Lunenberg’ is about Iris and Natalie arriving in Lunenberg, Nova Scotia to inspect their newly inherited seaside home, where Natalie has a sudden infatuation with their neighbour, and Iris discovers the home is at the centre of a secret life.

‘Here on the Flight’ is about John Cummings, who lives in an ordinary apartment, have dealings with three extraordinary neighbours that make for funny adventures.

“The biggest single benefit is that it totally impacts the box office.” says Price.

“So many people come for the first play, and then become repeat attenders and come to the other play so, the revenue grows, and you can donate more to this year’s cause.”

They will be working alongside the Prince George Council of Seniors, who have been seeing the senior population grow that can’t find affordable housing.

Board President, Janet Marren says they have been working on offsetting food costs.

“We have a lot of donors in the community that bring us additional food, so when our seniors cannot afford to buy enough groceries, we can supplement them.”

The Resource Centre, which serves as a seniors hub, offers assistance and referrals to over 21,000 seniors each year.

Miracle Theatre has raised over $850,000 for various community organizations through their performances, with the aim of surpassing the $1 million mark.

Price says reaching that milestone wouldn’t necessarily be a dream come true as they never expected to raise that much.

‘Lunenberg’ will start March 27th, 2025, with ‘Here on the Flight’ a couple weeks following, and tickets will be available at Books and Company or order by phone at 250-563-6637.
