A four-goal third period was the tonic for the Prince George Spruce Kings to enjoy life on the road.
A two-goal performance by Lucas Veilleux led the way on Friday night enroute to a 5-1 victory over the Powell River Kings on Friday at the Hap Parker Arena.
Veilleux drew first blood for the Spruce Kings at 12:27 of the second period assisted by Ethan Montroy and Linden Makow.
The 19-year-old scored again at the 5:21 mark of the third to double the visitors advantage. Marek Beaudoin trimmed the deficit in half scoring an even-strength marker for Powell River.
Makow, Will Moore and Carter Hesselgrave added single for PG in the game’s final ten minutes to help them improve to 4-7-1-1 on the season. Veteran blueliner Evan Bellamy was ejected from the game at 2:28 of the first period – he intially was assesed a checking from behind infraction before dropping the gloves with Powell River’s Jace Harder.
Both players received fighting majors and a game misconduct.
Skogen Schrott (PG) and Thomas Belzill (Powell River) also hit the showers early due to fighting majors and game misconduct’s.
Both teams went a combined 0-for-10 on the power-play.
Carter Wishart made 24 saves in the victory for PG while Vincent Lamberti stopped 16 shots in defeat for the Kings.
The Spruce Kings lock horns against Powell River (2-8-2-0) tonight (Saturday) at 7pm from the Hap Parker Arena.
