Washroom closures set to start in Prince George parks

Several of the City’s park amenities will be closing at the end of the month for the winter.

This will also means some vehicle access to parks will be restricted until the spring.

Park Gate Closures (Vehicle access):

  • Carrie Jane Gray Park – Closes the evening of October 30, 2024, and reopens in Spring 2025.
  • Connaught Hill Park – Closes the evening of October 30, 2024, and reopens in Spring 2025.
  • Nechako Riverside Park – Will close after the first significant snowfall. The parking lot will not be plowed, and the park will remain closed through winter, reopening in Spring 2025.
  • Jumpstart Courts at Carrie Jane Gray – Will close after the first significant snowfall. The parking lot will not be plowed, and the park will remain closed through winter, reopening in Spring 2025.

Washroom Closures:

  • Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park – The washrooms near 17th Avenue and The Exploration Place will close on Wednesday, October 30.
  • Duchess Park – The playground washroom will close on Wednesday, October 30.
  • Carrie Jane Gray Park – The washroom will close on Wednesday, October 30 as will the beach volleyball courts and the washroom at the courts.

Outhouse Closures:

  • Connaught Hill Park – Closes the evening of October 30, reopening in Spring 2025.
  • Rainbow Park – Closes the evening of October 30, reopening in Spring 2025.
  • Nechako Riverside Park – Closes after the first significant snowfall, with the parking lot not plowed. The park will reopen in Spring 2025.

Drinking Fountain Closures:

The following drinking fountains have already been winterized (water lines drained to prevent freezing):

  • Masich Place Stadium
  • Jumpstart/Rotary Skate Park
  • Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park
  • Duchess Park Playground
  • Duchess Park Dog Parks
  • Ingledew Dog Park

Indoor walking at the CN Centre resumed yesterday (Wednesday), and is available for free from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. These hours may vary on Prince George Cougars home game days. Indoor walking is not available on Special Event Dates.

The track at Masich Place Stadium will close to public walking on October 30th as well. It will remain open for scheduled events such as football and soccer, but it will be winterized and fully closed after the last event.
