WHL:

Goaltender Josh Ravensbergen of the Prince George Cougars is one of six WHL players to receive an ‘A’ rating in the NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

An ‘A’ rating indicates a potential first-round candidate.

Vancouver Giants winger Cameron Schmidt, who is from Prince George, received a ‘B’
rating (possible second or third round pick).

PG Cougars forwards Aiden Foster and Jett Lajoie are ‘C’ rated players (projected as fourth or fifth-round picks).

Next year’s NHL Draft will be held in Los Angeles.

The (6-4-2-1) P.G. Cougars host the (7-2-1-1) Victoria Royals Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

The Royals lead the B.C. Division by a point over the Cougars and Victoria has two games in hand.

Victoria beat Kelowna 4-3 in a shootout Wednesday after the Royals started this road trip with a 6-3 loss Tuesday in Kamloops.

The Cougars have won 15 of the last 17 regular season match-ups against the Royals over the last two seasons, including 7-1 in 2023-24.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (7-0-0-1) U-18 Cougars visit the (5-2-0-1) Valley West Giants Saturday night at 5:00 and Sunday morning at 9:30 in Langley.

NBA: 

Cleveland Cavaliers  136  Toronto Raptors  106

NFL: 

Week 8 of the NFL season begins tonight (Thursday 5:15) with (5-1) Minnesota at the (2-4) LA Rams.

MLB:

The World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees begins Friday night (at 5:08) in LA.

It will be a 2-3-2 format with the middle three games (Oct 28th to 30th) scheduled for Yankee Stadium.

CFL:

The B.C. Lions will find out this weekend who they will face in the playoffs.

The (9-9) Lions have completed their regular season and will finish 3rd in the West Division.

They will start the playoffs on the road at either Saskatchewan or Winnipeg on Saturday, November 2nd.

The (10-7) Blue Bombers visit Montreal Saturday at noon and the (9-7-1) Roughriders host Calgary Saturday at 4 PM.

Canada West Basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves begin their Canada West men’s and women’s basketball season on Friday, November 1st when they visit the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna (5 and 7 PM).

The UNBC home openers will go on Sunday, November 3rd against Thompson Rivers University of Kamloops starting with the women at 2:00 followed by the men at 4:00.
