UNBC Faculty member being inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame

The University of Northern British Columbia Faculty member Dr. Nadine Caron will be inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.

Dr. Caron, who is also a UBC Northern Medical Program Professor, is being inducted in recognition of her leadership in Indigenous health and surgical practice.

She says this is a reflection of the work being done.

“We’re starting to value as a country, the need to look at Canada’s history with Indigenous peoples with disparities and access to the healthcare system, and the research that drives it, the differential access to medical care and the health outcomes associated with it.”

Dr. Caron says she’s going to continue her work, with a new project about to launch that was in collaboration with northern First Nation communities.

She is among six individuals being inducted into the 2025 Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
