WHL:

The Prince George Cougars conclude a 5-game road trip this weekend as they visit the
(1-2-1) Seattle Thunderbirds tonight (Friday) at 7:05 and the (2-1) Portland Winterhawks Saturday night at 6:00.

The Cougars are 2-1 on the trip and 3-1-1 overall after five games.

Their next home games will go at CN Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday against Portland.

BCHL: 

The (2-3) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (2-3) Surrey Eagles tonight at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6 at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

In another move, the Spruce Kings have acquired 19-year-old defenseman Erik Sollied  from the Nanaimo Clippers in exchange for future considerations.

Sollied has played 68 BCHL games over the past 3 seasons with Merritt and Nanaimo.

Canada West Soccer:

Two home games in three days for the UNBC Timberwolves in Canada West women’s soccer.

The (1-7) UNBC women host the (5-1-3) Victoria Vikes today at noon and the (2-5-2) Mount Royal Cougars Sunday at noon.

Meanwhile, the (1-9-2) UNBC men’s soccer team is on the road visiting the (7-0-2) UBC Thunderbirds tonight at 7:30 and Saturday night at 7:00.

(The UNBC men will conclude their season with a pair of games in Kamloops against the
(1-8-1) Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on October 18th and 19th at 7 PM.

BC Football Conference:

The Prince George Kodiaks complete their 3rd season in the BC Football Conference when they tackle the Broncos Saturday night at 6:00 in Kamloops.

The Kodiaks are 2-7 while the Broncos are 1-8.

The two teams have split their first two meetings this year.

NFL: (Week 5)

Atlanta Falcons  36  Tampa Bay Buccaneers  30  (OT)
(Falcons QB Kirk Cousins passed for a career-high 509 yards, including the game-winning touchdown in overtime. Both the Falcons and Bucs are 3-2)

CFL:

It is the 4th last weekend of the CFL regular season.

The B.C. Lions host the (4-9-1) Calgary Stampeders tonight at 7:00.

The (7-8) Lions are 3rd in the West Division, a point behind the (7-7-1) Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Week 18 begins today at 4 PM with (9-6) Winnipeg at (6-9) Hamilton.

The West-leading Blue Bombers have won seven straight while the Tiger-Cats are riding a 4-game winning streak.

The Lions final two games are at Saskatchewan on Oct 12th (4 PM) and home against East-leading Montreal on Oct 19th (4 PM).

MLB: (3rd and deciding game in the best-of-3 National League wild-card series)

New York Mets  4  Milwaukee  2
(Down 2-0 in the 9th, Pete Alonso smashed a 3-run homer for the Mets who won the series 2-1. The Mets advance to the best-of-5 NL Division Series against the Phillies beginning Saturday afternoon at 1:08 in Philadelphia.

The other NLDS starts Saturday night at 5:38 in LA with the Dodgers home against the San Diego Padres.

The American League best-of-5 Division Series will also get going Saturday with Detroit at Cleveland (10:08 AM) and Kansas City at the New York Yankees (3:38 PM).
