Fall Shred It event set to return Saturday

A popular event is coming back to Prince George tomorrow. (Saturday)

Northern BC Crime Stoppers will be hosting the Drive Thru Fall Community Shred It event in the PGSS parking lot from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

“People can come down and safely and securely shred their personal, important documents for a donation to Northern BC Crime Stoppers,” said Northern BC Crime Stoppers Vice President Ron Polillo.

“If they’re hungry too, they can also grab a Mr. Mikes burger for another five dollar donation. It really is a great community event and I know a lot of people look forward to it for the entire year.”

Polillo said the event is popular for a few reasons.

“I think it really fills a void and a need, we’re really the only one that provides that service, and if you try to do it commercially, it will cost you a lot more,” he said.

“So I think the fact that it’s filling a need, it goes to a great cause, and it really is a cost effective way to safely and securely get rid of your documents.”

100 per cent of the funds raised go towards operating Northern BC Crime Stoppers.

“The program has been in the Prince George area for almost 40 years now, and it is an anonymous way to give information on crimes to police,” Polillo said.

“It really helps to protect our city and keep people safe.”

The shredding service will be available for a minimum donation of $10 per bag or box.
