WHL:
The Prince George Cougars have a new goalie.
They have acquired 19-year-old Cooper Michaluk from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2027 WHL Prospect’s Draft.
Michaluk has a 21-34-6 record in 71 WHL career games with the Chiefs.
In the 2023-24 season, he was 12-12-3 with a 4.49 goals against average and a .871 save percentage.

The (1-0-1) Cougars start a five-game road trip by visiting the (2-0) Vancouver Giants tonight (Friday) at 7:00 and the (1-0) Wenatchee Wild Sunday afternoon at 4:00.
The Cougars will have four veteran players back in their lineup as forwards Hunter Laing and Borya Valis plus defencemen Bauer Dumanski and Viliam Kmec have been returned to the Cats by their NHL teams.
Meanwhile, the Cougars have re-assigned 17-year-old defenseman Leith Hunter to a team to be determined.

BCHL:
The (2-1) Prince George Spruce Kings have their home opener against the (2-0) Coquitlam Express tonight at 7:00 with pre-game festivities, including an outdoor barbecue, to start at 5:30.
The Spruce Kings will also host the Express in the second half of the doubleheader Saturday night at 6:00 at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

Canada West Soccer:
The (1-7-2) UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team will host the (2-4-1) Trinity Western Spartans Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM in Canada West action at Masich Place Stadium.
These will be the final home games of the season for the UNBC men.
The (1-5) UNBC women’s soccer team is on the road at the (3-3-1) UBC Okanagan Heat tonight at 5:00 in Kelowna and at the (2-4-1) Thompson Rivers Wolfpack Saturday night at 5:00 in Kamloops.

BC Football Conference:
The Prince George Kodiaks take to the field against the Kamloops Broncos Saturday night at 6:00 at Masich Place Stadium as the “Lheidli T’enneh Kodiaks.”
This is to honour the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
In addition to the name change, the Lheidli T’enneh Kodiaks will also be sporting new jerseys featuring the First Nation’s logo.

The Kodiaks and Broncos are both 1-7 and will also meet again on Saturday, October 5th (at 6 PM) in Kamloops to conclude their season.

NFL: (Week 4)
Dallas Cowboys 20 New York Giants 15
The Cowboys have won 14 of the last 15 meetings against the Giants.

CFL:
There are a pair of Friday night games in the CFL to begin Week 17.
The (8-6) Winnipeg Blue Bombers, riding a 6-game winning streak, host the (5-9) Edmonton Elks (5:00) followed by the (5-9) Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the (7-7) B.C. Lions (7:30).
The Lions are two points behind the West Division leading Blue Bombers with four games left.

MLB:
The (74-85) Toronto Blue Jays close out their season with three home games this weekend against the Miami Marlins starting tonight (4:07).
The (82-77) Seattle Mariners wrap up with three home games against the Oakland A’s starting this evening (7:10).
The Mariners missed the playoffs again this season.
It is the 22nd time in the last 23 years Seattle has failed to qualify for the post-season.
