WHL:
Prince George Cougars defenceman Viliam Kmec has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Kmec was invited to the Golden Knights 2024 Development Camp in July.
He will be returning to the Cougars this week as one of the 20-year-olds on their roster.
The (1-0-1) Cougars play their next five games on the road starting Friday night at 7:00 in Langley against the (2-0) Vancouver Giants.

Prince George began its season by picking up three out of a possible four points at home against the Spokane Chiefs; a 4-3 overtime loss was followed by a 3-1 victory.

BCHL:
The (2-1) Prince George Spruce Kings have their home opener Friday night at 7:00 against the (2-0) Coquitlam Express in the first of a doubleheader.
The same teams also play Saturday night at 6:00 at the Kopar Memorial Arena.
The Spruce Kings began their season winning two of out three on the road; they beat Surrey 4-1, outscored Chilliwack 3-2 in overtime and lost 4-0 to Langley.

Canada West Soccer:
The UNBC Timberwolves will be home this weekend in men’s action and on the road in the women’s division in Canada West Soccer.
The (1-7-2) UNBC men host the (2-4-1) Trinity Western Spartans Saturday afternoon at 1:00 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
The (1-5) UNBC women’s soccer team visits (3-3-1) UBC Okanagan Friday night at 5:00 in Kelowna and (2-4-1) Thompson Rivers University Saturday night at 5:00 in Kamloops.

NFL: (Two Monday night games to conclude Week 3)

The (8-6) Winnipeg Blue Bombers have won six straight to take over first place in the CFL West Division by two points over the (7-7) B.C. Lions.
The Lions, who had the bye in Week 16, host the (5-9) Hamilton Tiger Cats Friday night at 7:30.
The Blue Bombers begin Week 17 hosting the (5-9) Edmonton Elks Friday night at 5:00.
Winnipeg beat the Elks 27-14 Saturday in Edmonton.

BC Football Conference:
The (1-7) Prince George Kodiaks were idle on the weekend.
The Kodiaks conclude their third season in the BCFC with a home and home against the
(1-7) Kamloops Broncos: Saturday, September 28th at 6pm at Masich Place Stadium and Saturday, October 5th at 6pm in Kamloops.

Seattle Mariners 6 Houston Astros 1
The (81-76) Mariners are 1.5 games out of the final A.L. Wild Card spot with five games remaining.
Seattle will visit (85-72) Houston again tonight (Tuesday 5:05) and Wednesday before closing with three home games against the (67-89) Oakland A’s Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Boston Red Sox 4 Toronto Blue Jays 1
The (73-84) Blue Jays host the (79-78) Red Sox again tonight (4:07) and Wednesday before closing with three home games Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the (57-99) Miami Marlins.
