The Cops for Cancer Tour de North has wrapped up a week-long, 850 kilometre ride from Dawson Creek to Williams Lake.
“But we’re not over,” says ride coordinator Erin Reynolds, “We’re not finished until the end of January, so currently, we’ve got $180,000 on our website, and we definitely want to see more come in.”
Once we hit the January mark, the money raised will be distributed for research and care support programs.
While the team hit some rough patches will less-than-desirable weather, they’re looking back at the long ride with fond memories.
“There was such great community engagement,” Reynolds said in a previous interview with MyPgNow, “It means a lot to the team to know that we’re connecting with the people we’re helping. Anytime we can actually connect with them and be there face-to-face, take pictures with them and see them smile makes our day brighter.”
The Prince George stop Saturday evening contributed more than $6,000 to the fundraiser, on top of personal donations throughout the ride.
“Everybody can help kids with cancer,” added Reynolds, “You don’t have to ride the bike for 7 days or be on the team to do it. Communities can support their local riders and be inspired by their junior team members, and survivors of cancer in their own town.”
