Prince George launches Online Smoking and Vaping Survey

The city of Prince George is looking for feedback on it’s proposed smoking and vaping bylaw.

Monday the City posted a draft of a new bylaw that would restrict smoking and vaping in a number of public spaces. There’s also an online survey for citizens to tell the city what they think of the proposed bylaw.

“A lot of regulations that prohibits smoking and vaping in a number of outdoor places” Said City Manager of Social Planning Chris Bone. “Areas like customer service areas, bus shelters, parks and open spaces”

While smoking is already restricted indoors by the Tobacco Control Act, those rules do not currently apply to vaping.

“Currently there are no regulations regarding vaping on outdoor patios or indoor areas for that matter” said Bone. “The City of Prince George has included vaping in its proposed bylaw because this has been a best practice demonstrated by several other communities who have passed similar bylaws.”

Residents have until November 15th to complete the survey which can be found on the City of Prince George website.
