The Prince George Cougars have signed 16-year-old forward Ethan Hamilton to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Hamilton was selected in the fifth round, 103rd overall by the Cougars in the 2023 WHL Prospect’s Draft.

The PG Cougars and the Prince George Spruce Kings have a pair of preseason games on the road this weekend.
The Cougars face the Edmonton Oil Kings in Edson, Alberta Saturday afternoon at 1:00 (PT) and Sunday morning at 11.

The Spruce Kings start their pre-season Friday night at 7:00 at the Coquitlam Express and will also have an exhibition game Saturday night at 6:00 at the Surrey Eagles.

Paralympics: (in Paris)
The Canadian women’s wheelchair basketball team has advanced to the Paralympic Games semifinals for the first time in 20 years.
Former UNBC Timberwolves basketball player, Kady Dandeneau, led Canada with 33 points and 13 rebounds in a 71-53 quarterfinal victory over Germany Wednesday.

Canada will face the Netherlands Friday (12:30 PM) in the semis.

The Canadian men’s wheelchair basketball team, which includes former UNBC student Bo Hedges of Fort St. John, will be up against the USA today (Thursday 12:30 PM PT) in the Paralympics semifinals.

The (67-74) Blue Jays, with just 21 games left in their season, start a 3-game weekend series against the (76-63) Braves Friday (4:20 PM) in Atlanta.

The (70-70) Mariners conclude a 4-game series against the (61-79) A’s this afternoon (Thursday 12:37) in Oakland.

The NFL regular season kicks off tonight (Thursday 5:20) with the Baltimore Ravens at the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The (6-6) B.C. Lions visit the (10-1) Montreal Alouettes Friday (4:30 PM) to start Week 14 of the season.
B.C. and (6-6) Winnipeg share top spot in the West Division, one point ahead of (5-6-1) Saskatchewan, and four in front of (4-7) Calgary and (4-8) Edmonton.

PG Kodiaks football:
The (1-5) Prince George Kodiaks visit the (2-3) Valley Huskers Saturday night at 7:00 in the BC Football Conference.
(The remaining Kodiak schedule includes: home against the (6-0) Okanagan Sun (Sat. Sept. 14th at 6 PM), home against the (1-5) Kamloops Broncos (Sat. Sept. 28th at 6 PM) and at Kamloops (Sat. Oct. 5th at 6 PM).
The Kodiaks, who have dropped their last five, have scored 126 points (average of 21 per game) while allowing 282 (average of 47 per game).

Canada West Soccer:
The (0-3-1) UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team hosts the (1-2-1) UBC Okanagan Heat Friday and Saturday night at 6:00 at Masich Place Stadium.
The UNBC women’s soccer team will open its Canada West season this weekend on the road at (0-1) Mount Royal Friday at 4 PM (PT) and at (1-0) Victoria Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
