The Insurance Bureau of Canada says a massive wildfire that ripped through Jasper and its national park has resulted in $880 million dollars worth of insured losses.
This makes it the ninth-costliest disaster in Canadian history for insurance payouts.
The IBC estimates the insured damages — including homes, businesses, their contents and vehicles.
The agency noted while Jasper is ninth now, several other recent disasters — including flooding events in Montreal and Ontario as well as the Calgary hailstorm could surpass it.
Jasper residents returned home two weeks ago.
