BCFC: 

Prince George Kodiaks kicker Brady Harper is the BC Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Harper was 2/2 on field goals and 3/3 on converts in the Kodiaks 43-27 loss to the Kamloops Broncos.

The (1-5) Kodiaks, who have lost their last five, have four games left in their season: at Valley Huskers (Sat. Sept. 7th at 7 PM, home against Okanagan (Sat. Sept. 14th at 6 PM at Masich Place Stadium), home against the Kamloops Broncos (Sat. Sept. 28th at 6 PM at Masich Place Stadium) and at Kamloops (Sat. Oct. 5th at 6 PM).

The Kodiaks have scored 126 points (average of 21 per game) while allowing 282 (average of 47 per game).

Hockey:

The Prince George Cougars four-day on-ice training camp runs from Thursday to Sunday at CN Centre.

The camp will conclude with the annual Rob Charney Cup Intra-squad game Sunday night at 6:00.

The Cougars start their four-game preseason schedule on Sept 6th and 7th in Edson, Alberta against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Prince George Spruce Kings three-day training camp will begin on Friday afternoon and conclude on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 with the Team Red vs. Team Grey Intra-squad game at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

The Spruce Kings start their pre-season on Friday, Sept. 6th at Coquitlam.

 

MLB:

Boston Red Sox  6  Toronto Blue Jays  3

The loss ended the 6-game winning streak for the (65-69) Blue Jays, who play again tonight (Wednesday 4:10) in Boston against the (68-64) Red Sox.

Tampa Bay Rays  3  Seattle Mariners  2

The (67-66) Mariners host the (66-66) Rays again this afternoon (Wednesday 1:10) in the rubber match of their 3-game series.

Seattle is in second place in the AL West, 3.5 games behind the (70-62) Houston Astros.

Canada West Soccer:

The (0-2) UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team has its home openers this weekend at Masich Place Stadium.

The Timberwolves host the (2-0) Victoria Vikes Friday and Saturday night at 6:00.

The UNBC women’s soccer team will open its season September 6th at Mount Royal.

CFL: 

Week 13 of the CFL season begins Saturday afternoon at 4:00 in Victoria with the (5-6) B.C. Lions home against the (7-2-1) Ottawa Redblacks.

The Lions, who have dropped their last five, are coming off a 34-27 loss to the Redblacks in Ottawa.
