CFL: (Week 11)
Ottawa 31 Calgary 29
Lewis Ward kicked a 51-yard field goal on the final play of the game for the (6-2-1) Redblacks. It was the first home loss of the season for the (4-6) Stampeders.
A battle of division leaders tonight (Friday at 6:00) in the CFL with (8-1) Montreal at (5-3-1) Saskatchewan.
The (5-4) B.C. Lions host the (3-6) Winnipeg Blue Bombers Sunday afternoon at 4:00.
Nathan Rourke is expected to start at QB after signing a three-year deal with the Lions this week.

BCFC:
The (1-3) Prince George Kodiaks visit the (4-0) Okanagan Sun Saturday night at 7:00 in the B.C. Football Conference.
The Kodiaks, riding a three-game losing streak, have their next home game on Saturday, August 24th at 6 PM against the (0-3) Kamloops Broncos.

The (63-59) Mariners are 0-3 on a 9-game road trip that continues this weekend against the (56-64) Pittsburgh Pirates.
Seattle is in second place in the A.L. West, 3 games behind the (65-55) Houston Astros.
The Astros have won eight in a row.
The (57-64) Toronto Jays visit the (59-63) Chicago Cubs today (Friday 11:20 AM).

World Men’s Fastpitch Championship (in Surrey)
The Prince George River Kings had a win and four losses at the 2024 International Softball Congress World Men’s Fastpitch Championship in Surrey.

Hockey:
Harry Mahesh, who is from Vanderhoof, has been hired as an assistant coach with the Abbotsford Canucks, the AHL farm club of the Vancouver Canucks.
Mahesh spent last season as a Coaching Development Associate for the Toronto Maple Leafs and prior to that was an assistant coach with the Powell River Kings and a head coach and G.M. with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Winnipeg Freeze.
