Shar McCrory to run for NDP in PG-Mackenzie riding

A second School District 57 trustee is taking a stab at provincial politics.

Shar McCrory will be acclaimed as the NDP candidate for the Prince George-Mackenzie riding following an event tomorrow night (Friday).

She has been an advocate for health care, community and education in the region for three decades.

“When John Rustad was in cabinet, his government made deep, deep cuts to education and to the other services we rely on, like healthcare,” said McCrory. “In challenging times, people need a government that has their back. They don’t need to be worried about cuts. We can’t afford the risk.”

Fellow trustee and former board chair Rachael Weber is running for the Conservatives in the same riding.

Longtime BC United MLA Mike Morris is not seeking re-election – the party named Kiel Giddens as its candidate in September of 2023.

The provincial election is set for October 19th.
