CFL: 

After failing to land a job with an NFL team, quarterback Nathan Rourke is returning to the B.C. Lions.

The 26-year-old from Victoria completed 78 per cent of his passes over 10 regular-season games with the Lions in 2022.

That was the year he was named the league’s top Canadian.

TSN is reporting that Rourke received a three-year deal and will become the CFL’s highest-paid player in 2025 and 2026, earning more than $600,000 per season.

Rourke is expected to be in the lineup when the (5-4) Lions host the (3-6) Winnipeg Blue Bombers Sunday at 4 PM as B.C. tries to end a three-game losing streak.

Week 11 of the CFL season begins Thursday night (6:00) with (5-2-1) Ottawa at (4-5) Calgary.

BCFC: 

The Prince George Kodiaks of the BC Football Conference visit the first place (4-0) Okanagan Sun Saturday night at 7:00 in Kelowna before hosting the last place (0-3) Kamloops Broncos Saturday, August 24th at 6 PM.

The (1-3) Kodiaks are allowing an average of 42 points per game while scoring 25 over their first four games.

World Men’s Fastpitch Championship (in Surrey)

The Prince George River Kings started with a win and three losses at the 2024 International Softball Congress World Men’s Fastpitch Championship in Surrey.

The River Kings fell 10-3 to the Omma Tigers on Saturday before splitting a pair on Monday; an 8-5 victory over the Can-West Thunder was followed by a 6-0 loss to the Circle Tap Dukes of Denmark, Wisconsin.

On Tuesday, Prince George lost 8-1 to the Emery Electric Chargers.

The Vanderhoof Rippers also began 1-3.

They won by default on Saturday which was followed by a 13-1 Sunday loss to the Circle Tap Dukes and a 5-0 Monday loss to the Lacey A’s.

Vanderhoof fell 6-1 to the Chippewa Chiefs on Tuesday before scoring a 7-4 victory over the Richmond Rays.

The tournament runs until Saturday.

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  6  LA Angels  1

The (56-64) Jays go for a three game sweep of the (52-68) Angels tonight (Wednesday 6:38) in Anaheim.

Detroit Tigers  15  Seattle Mariners  1

The (63-57) Mariners are 0-1 on a 9-game road trip and sit in second place in the A.L. West, 1.5 games behind the (64-55) Houston Astros.

The Astros have won seven in a row.
