Friday set as target return date for Jasper residents

Jasper residents may be able to go home as early as Friday.

The Municipality of Jasper announced today (Monday), three weeks after 25,000 people were forced to leave the town due to wildfire, the Incident Management Team plans to have the re-entry criteria met by August 16th.

This means the town will have the minimum services to be safe for residents to return.

The return day of August 16th is conditional on achieving and maintaining the re-entry criteria.

Increased fire activity or unplanned changes to critical services may impact the the re-entry date.

Trails, campgrounds and day-use areas are not included in this phase of the re-entry process.

Updates on the different criteria will be posted daily on the town’s website here.
