A major renovation to the Integris Recreation Centre is being taken up by the Town of Vanderhoof.
The project was facing a 100 thousand dollar shortfall but Mayor Gerry Thiessen says the town was able to access money from it’s reserve fund.
“We made a decision as council to get those funds out of reserves and use them for something we think will be a real value to our community.”
Thiessen adds once complete the total cost will hover around 400 thousand dollars.
“It appears to be somewhere in the 400 thousand dollar range, we have received over 300 thousand from grant funding plus another 100 thousand from our reserve funds.”
The centre is expected to become a vital part of the community when the renovation is complete.
