Canada’s Camryn Rogers has won the gold medal in women’s hammer throw at the Paris Olympics.
It’s Canada’s sixth gold medal of the games so far.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander posted a team-high 27 points and five rebounds in defeat. France was led by the duo of Guerschon Yabusele and Isaia Cordinier who tallied 22 points each.’
France will play Germany in the semis.
In women’s water polo, Canada fell 18-8 to Spain in the quarterfinals. Verica Bakoc scored five goals in defeat.
Caeli McKay finished 8th out of 11 competitors during the Finals of the 10m Platform Diving event.
Canada is up to 18 medals so far at the games, six gold, four silver and eight bronze.

The next action for the Prince George Kodiaks (1-2) is on Saturday when they host the Valley Huskers. Kickoff is set for 6pm at Masich Place Stadium.
The Kodiaks sit fifth in the BC Football Conference following a 42-7 loss to Langley over the weekend.

The River Kings along with the Vanderhoof Rippers will be competing in the 2024 International Softball Congress World Men’s Fastpitch Championship.
It is taking place from August 10-17 at Softball City in Surrey and is the first time since 1997 British Columbia has hosted the event.
The tournament will also feature some of the best fastpitch players in the world spanning 15-countries including Canada, USA, Mexico and Australia.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr is the reigning American League Player of the Week. The 25-year-old posted an eye-popping slash line of .536/.606/1.107 over the last seven days.
He has also added three homers, seven doubles, eight runs scored and eight RBI across his last 28 at-bats. Since the All-Star break, Guerrero leads the MLB in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, extra base hits and total bases.
