What is there to do in the Prince George area this long weekend?

August long weekend is almost here and there is plenty to do across Prince George – and beyond!

Vanderhoof Masters of the Air Exhibition – Saturday, 10:00 – 4:00.

A few thousand are expected to attend the expo in Vanderhoof, which will be headlined by a B17 Flying Fortress – one of just three left in the world that still flies.

The Masters of the Air Exhibition will run from 10:00 to 4:00 on Saturday (August 3) at the Vanderhoof airport.

Homestead Days – Sunday and Monday

Homestead Days is the historic site’s longest-running event, which has been held since the park opened in 1989.

There will be a variety of heritage demonstrations, live music, old-fashioned contests, games and more.

Homestead Days takes place Sunday and Monday (August 4th and 5th) from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Foodie Friday – Today, 12:00 – 4:00

Foodie Fridays brings food trucks, vendors, entertainment to Canada Games Plaza.

This will be the fourth Foodie Friday of the summer.

Barkerville reopens – today and beyond

Barkerville reopens to tourists today, under two weeks after it was closed and evacuated due to a nearby wildfire.

The Historic St. George Hotel in Barkerville is open, but campgrounds, cottages, and guest houses will remain closed for now.

Chuck Chin’s Celebration of Life – Sunday, 1:00 – 3:00

The Prince George community will gather at Cottonwood Island Park to remember well known local photographer Chuck Chin.

There will be music, food trucks, and face painting, and special presentations from the Khast’an drummers and MLA Shirley Bond.

Orchestra North concert – Saturday, 7:30

The Orchestra North Summer Program participants will take the stage and showcase the fruits of their labour over the last few days tomorrow night.

The program, which was held in Smithers until the pandemic and has since moved to Prince George, welcomes string musicians of all ages and skill levels, and intermediate to advanced brass and wind players.

Orchestra North’s professional development program plays at the Christian Reformed Church Saturday at 7:30.
