Cougars set the tone in pre-season road trip

The Cariboo Cougars steamrolled the opposition before closing their 5-game preseason with a 2-0 loss to the Burnaby Winter Club.

A clash with BCMML rivals, the Thompson Blazers, saw the midget cats walking away with a 6-0 victory, converting three power-play opportunities into goals, adding a shorthanded tally, scoring once in a four-on-four situation, with one even strength goal as the cherry on top.

Riding high on the win, the Cougars put up the exact same score the next morning versus the Okanagan Hockey Academy.

Trey Thomas and Tyler Maser each potted a pair for the Cougars, which outshot OHA 30-25.

The victories became even more dramatic, with the Cougars winning 7-1 and 9-3, respectively.

After firing away 28 goals in 4 games, the magic came to an end early Sunday morning, when the team was blanked by the Burnaby Winter Club.

Of course, the game changes once regular season begins, and the team sets of on the road to defending their Mac’s Tournament Championship, and chase a berth at the 2016 Telus Cup in Quispamsis, New Brunswick.

The Cariboo Cougars open their regular season at home against the Valley West Hawks this Saturday.
