Olympics:
In Olympic news, a controversial story involves Canada’s women’s soccer team.
The Canadian Olympic Committee reported that a “non-accredited” member of Canada Soccer’s support staff has been detained by French authorities for allegedly using a drone to film New Zealand’s women’s soccer team during practice.
The IOC and FIFA are currently looking into the matter.
Team Canada is set to kick off its tournament against New Zealand on Thursday.
Hockey:
The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed defenseman Jayden Connors for the upcoming season.
The 17-year-old Connors is from Toronto, who spent last season with the St. Michaels Buzzers of the OJHL, notching 23 points in 46 games.
He is committed to the University of New Hampshire following his time in the BCHL.

BCFC:
The Prince George Kodiaks visit the defending champion Westshore Rebels Saturday at 4 PM in the BC Football Conference.
Both teams are 1-0.

Week 8 of the CFL season starts Thursday (4:30) with Saskatchewan at Montreal.
Both the Roughriders and Alouettes are 5-1, tied for the best record in the league.
The (5-2) B.C. Lions are idle until Thursday, August 1st when they visit the (2-5) Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
