Dr. Geoff Payne will continue to serve as UNBC’s President and Vice-Chancellor.
The University’s Board of Governors has reappointed him to a second term in the positions.
“I was thrilled,” Payne said.
“The opportunity to continue to work for the University, I’ve been here for 20 years and president for four-and-a-half, just thrilled in the support that I’ve gotten from the Board of Governors, and the University community.”
“Under Geoff’s astute leadership, thoughtful guidance and commitment to fostering inclusive relationships, UNBC has entered a period of stability, transparency, and open communications,” said UNBC Board of Governors Chair Joel McKay.
“The University is well-positioned to drive forward initiatives and develop partnerships that will further enhance UNBC’s reputation for excellence as one of Canada’s best small research-intensive universities.”
Payne came into the role as an Interim President in February 2020 at the onset of the pandemic.
His new term will begin on June 28th, 2025, and will end June 27th, 2030.
