Sunscreen is strongly recommended at Huble Homestead’s annual Kids’ Carnival this Saturday (July 20th).
The event, which organizers say draws in up to 700 people each year, is forecast to hit a high of 33 degrees.
“We want people to be taking precautions, we are doing what we can but we don’t have electricity, so we don’t have air conditioning,” Krystal Leason, the Operations Manager of Huble Homestead, told My PG Now.
She said designated cooling areas are set up around the historical site, and encourages families to bring whatever they need to stay safe and comfortable.
A jam-packed day of fun will be waiting for whoever braves the heat, according to Leason there will be hourly magic shows, carnival games, a clown, and multiple community groups with booths for crafts and activities set up.
“The library will have a story time twice, we have old-fashioned games, ice cream making, the parachute will be out, and our blacksmith will be working away,” she said. “It is a super fun day for kids and anyone that loves a good time.”
Last year was the first time the event had returned since the pandemic, though Leason said the day was blanketed in harsh smoke. Despite the conditions, around 650 people came.
The carnival will be held Saturday from 10:30 – 4:00, admission is by donation (recommended at $10 per family), plus 50 cents per carnival ticket and anything purchased in the general store.
